Lost Luggage Woes?

But I had a total nightmare with my luggage. My bag, with literally EVERYTHING in it, never arrived. I spent half the trip running around trying to find it. Seriously stressed. Anyone else had a similar experience? Or is there like, a secret luggage fairy I should've appeased before coming?

Oh man, that's the WORST. Lost luggage is a special kind of travel hell. I had something similar happen in @London once, my entire backpack, gone. Turns out it ended up in @Sydney somehow. Took three weeks to get it back. The airline, naturally, offered me... nothing. Seriously, zip. File a claim with your airline IMMEDIATELY. Don't wait. And keep ALL your paperwork, boarding passes, baggage tags, everything. Good luck! You'll get through it. Just prepare for a bureaucratic headache.

Ugh, three weeks?! That's insane. I'm already on the phone with them, but they're making it sound like it's my fault somehow. Like, I should've known my bag was gonna vanish into thin air. Seriously?! The paperwork thing, check. I'm practically hoarding baggage tags at this point. Thanks for the advice, though. Knowing someone else has been through this awful thing at least makes me feel a little less alone. I'll keep you posted on the bureaucratic nightmare, or lack thereof, if I ever get this resolved.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
