Is it always this busy?

But, wow, the place was PACKED. I barely got a seat at the bar, and ordering took forever. It was a fun atmosphere, don't get me wrong, but I'm wondering if it's always this crazy or if I just caught it on a particularly hectic night. I'm thinking of going back, but maybe on a Tuesday or something.

honestly it's just how it goes with the hyped places here. if you want the same quality without the zoo vibe, try the bar on Pappelallee in Prenzlauer Berg, same level of creativity but they actually limit capacity so you can breathe. tuesday night is usually chill but i'd still aim for 7pm to grab a spot before the after-work crowd trickles in

Which bar was it? Some of the spots near Rosenthaler Platz have that problem even on weeknights because they're tiny and word spreads fast. I'd check what time they open and walk in right at that moment, like 6pm. You get a proper look at the space without the crush, and the bartenders actually have time to chat about their ingredients. If you still want that buzz but less of a fight, try the bar around the corner on Torstraße, the drinks are just as clever and the layout has more breathing room.

tbh it depends on the bar. Some of the newer cocktail spots in Mitte are just trendy and always packed even on weekdays. If you liked the drinks try going right when they open around 6 or 7pm, usually quieter for the first hour. Or check out some places in Neukölln like the ones on Weserstraße, they get busy too but feel less like a sardine can

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
