Moabit Mysteries?

But my biggest problem? Finding a decent currywurst. Every place I tried was either too touristy or just... bland. Is there a secret, unassuming currywurst stand known only to the locals? I need answers!

You're in Moabit and striking out on the currywurst front? That's a crime against Berlin! Forget the tourist traps near the Spree, head further into the residential areas. Smaller, less flashy stands often have the best, most authentic recipes. Look for places with fewer English signs, maybe even just a handwritten board. Trust your gut, if it looks like a local hangout, it probably is. Good luck, and may your next currywurst be legendary!

The spot you're looking for is probably the one tucked behind the Arminiusmarkt. No real sign, just a guy in a white apron who's been at it since the 90s. They do a proper bratwurst with a homemade sauce that actually tastes like curry, not just sweet ketchup.

Torch juggler near the Spree? That's probably the guy who practices by the Schifffahrtskanal around sunset. For currywurst though, skip the stands entirely and hit up Curry 36 on Stromstraße, just past the U-Bahn exit. It's a tiny shopfront, no seating, and they've been doing it right for decades. Their sauce has that proper spicy kick without being all ketchup and sugar.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
