Uber Ride

I'd take this seriously and report it to Uber right away. The driver accessing your phone is way beyond normal behavior, they don't need it for anything related to the ride. I've had drivers in Berlin try to convince me the app was "glitching" to get me to hand over my phone, and it's always a setup to manipulate the fare. For future trips from BER, the FEX train to Hauptbahnhof is 3.50 and runs every 30 minutes, I use it all the time and never deal with this kind of hassle.

yeah that's not normal at all. the driver accessing your phone is the biggest red flag, uber drivers don't need to touch your device for anything. probably a scam where they fake a short trip to charge you the minimum while taking you wherever they want. next time if a driver asks for your phone say no and call uber support directly. also fyi from BER you can take the FEX train to hauptbahnhof for €3.50, it's faster than the S-Bahn and runs every 30 mins

mate that driver accessing your phone is a straight-up data theft attempt on top of the fare scam. they could've grabbed your saved addresses, payment info, or even sent themselves a friend invite from your account. i'd check your uber settings for any new devices logged in and maybe scan your phone for anything weird in the background apps. also next time at BER just hop the RE7 to Zoo for 3.50, runs every 20 mins and saves u the headache of airport uber drivers altogether

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
