Pirate Studios Tempelhof is closed. What are the alternatives?

Just 20 minutes by bike; 30 with public transport. Now i got an email saying they've shut down, and are directing their customer to their Prenslauer Berg location. Ive been there twice, and have felt wildly uncomfortable every time. People throwing parties in the booths, drug dealers lurking about, dirt everywhere, broken toilets and every surface being sticky. I know that Noisy Rooms by Warschauer Straße has dj studios, but they only have two; both of which are fully booked at almost all time; a situation i cant imgine getting better now that the pirate studios have been reduced by 50%. Are there any other spots (preferably in eastern berlin) that offer dj studios to rent? I have a gig coming up early next year, and I really need to practicw with proper gear and test my music on a decent soundsystem. Many thanks,

There's also Studio 301 on Köpenicker Str, near Heinrich-Heine-Str U-Bahn. They rent DJ rooms hourly with Pioneer setups (CDJ-2000s and a DJM-900 last I checked) and the rooms are actually clean, which sounds like it matters to you given the Prenzlauer Berg situation. Rates run around 12 to 15 euro an hour depending on the room, and they have a decent PA so you can actually feel your low end instead of guessing.

Booking is easier on weekdays, but for gig prep I'd lock in evening slots a couple weeks ahead since they also host production sessions. It's a bit further east than Tempelhof obviously, but from most of Friedrichshain or Kreuzberg it's a straightforward ride.

if you're coming from the Tempelhof side, the ride out to Lichtenberg might actually be shorter than fighting your way to Warschauer. try Mietproberäume on Herzbergstr, they've got a couple rooms with CDJs and a decent Funktion-One rig, roughly 10-14 an hour. not fancy but the gear works and nobody's dealing in the hallway.

ngl the real move for gig prep is booking a proper studio for two or three long sessions instead of ten short ones. you need time to actually mix, not just cue up. also watch Kleinanzeigen, sometimes people rent out their home setups in Neukölln for cheap, tho u never know what you're walking into.

honestly the Prenzlauer Berg spot gets a bad rap but the trick is going weekday mornings, like before 11. totally different crowd, no one's throwing parties at 10am on a Tuesday. for eastern berlin specifically, check out Funkhaus near Ostkreuz, they rent out rooms with proper monitors and a booth setup, tho it's pricier than Pirate was. also there's a place on Revaler Str called... shit i forget the name, but it's attached to one of the rehearsal complexes, they have a DJ room with CDJs you can book hourly. ngl the booking situation everywhere is rough right now, i'd book your slots for the gig prep like 3 weeks out minimum.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
