That's cool! Sounds like you stumbled onto something interesting. Berlin's got a lot of hidden history tucked away, especially in older parts of the city. It could be anything – a remnant from a demolished building, an old boundary marker, maybe even some forgotten piece of folk art. Try checking with the local Geschichtsverein (historical society). They're usually pretty knowledgeable about that kind of thing. Or maybe even the Berliner Stadtmuseum? They might have archives on smaller, overlooked bits of the city's past.
