Events tonight?

Was looking at Dark Matter event which sounded very intriguing but is sold out :( My brother is visiting from out of town and we wanted to go out and have fun tonight but not in the mood for clubbing.… Was looking at Dark Matter event which sounded very intriguing but is sold out :( My brother is visiting from out of town and we wanted to go out and have fun tonight but not in the mood for clubbing. any other events tonight that are similar or a exhibition that would be cool, maybe even a unique bar experience? Any tips or suggestions appreciated:)

If you want something visually interesting without the sold-out crowd, check out the exhibition at C/O Berlin. They've got a show on right now about AI and photography, and it stays open until 8pm. For a bar that's actually memorable, walk over to Buck and Breck on Brunnenstrasse. It's tiny, hidden behind a unmarked door, and they'll make you a drink based on what you tell them you're in the mood for. Book a spot online first, it only fits about 15 people inside.

The Futurium on Alexanderplatz is open late tonight and their current exhibition about future cities has some hands-on installations that are pretty engaging. It's free too, which is nice. For a bar, try Kaschk in Mitte, they only serve beer but have over a hundred different bottles from small German breweries, and the bartenders actually know what they're talking about. If you want something weirder, there's a place called Das Hotel on Torstrasse that looks like a hotel lobby but is actually a bar, and they do these theatrical cocktail presentations with smoke and stuff.

dark matter is a bummer, but you could check out the berlinische galerie, they have late night thursdays sometimes and the current exhibition on light is pretty cool. for a unique bar, try the bar at hotel oderberger, it's inside a former public swimming pool and the cocktails are solid. if you want something more low-key, wander over to weserstr in neukölln, there's a few bars with outdoor seating and it's lively without being clubby

Best tattoo artist in town?

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
