Friends, my MIL is looking to get acrylic nails done and doesn't speak any German. Any nail polish fans here with some recommendations or advice?

One of her biggest splurges is having her nails done; she's gotten them done once a month for as long as I've known her. I know it's trivial, but she's worried she won't be able to keep doing this while she's there in Germany.

I spent some time on the internet trying to look up acrylic nails and think that I may have found a few places that offer acrylic. As far as I can see, it seems to be a relatively unpopular service, as most seem to be offer only lacquer and gel. I keep seeing something called "new modeling." Can someone tell me what that is? Could that be another term for acrylic? (Also, I keep seeing something called nature. Could someone tell me what that is? I'm using google translate, it may be a translation issue).

She's looking for a nail salon on the south end of Berlin, so that it's close to where she's living and easy for her to get to. I made her a list of about 5 salons which had good reviews and appeared to offer acrylic (unfortunately, my father-in-law wiped their computer before leaving and she has the only hard copy, or I'd include the salon list here. I'm frustrated I didn't email myself/save my own copy of the list).

She doesn't speak German, is there a phrase I could give her? Or perhaps someone would be willing to write something for me in German so that she can take a piece of paper with a written request for a full set of acrylic nails? I believe it would just be a nail fill, rather than a new set, along with color polish.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I sure appreciate you. Thank you very much!

Berlin's got tons of nail salons, but finding English speakers might be tricky. Try looking for salons in touristy areas, they're more likely to have staff who speak English. Failing that, Google Translate and some picture references might be your best bet!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
