Every day I drive past the former SEZ swimming centre in Friedrichshain and used to visit the place a few years ago for a cultural event. I've noticed that there is an academic and political debat… Every day I drive past the former SEZ swimming centre in Friedrichshain and used to visit the place a few years ago for a cultural event. I've noticed that there is an academic and political debate over how the fate of that building, however am generally curious what the general public thinks. Most people with childhood memories tell me, they want the old swimming centre back, but are also open for new public uses (library, school, theatre, etc...).</p> <p>Do you think you would preserve, or partially preserve the building (and in what way do you think it should be used that the city can benefit from it... or do you think the area should be completely demolished for housing?

Preservation, obviously. Half the charm of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg is the crumbling, slightly-dodgy aesthetic. Demolish it all and you just get another soulless concrete jungle.

Could be related to the demonstration near Invalidenstraße earlier, they often deploy police helicopters for that. I've also heard there's a film shoot happening around Potsdamer Platz this week.
