We are planning a small family Christmas gathering. Could you recommend the best place in Berlin to enjoy a traditional Christmas goose dish?

Looking for an authentic yet reasonably priced restaurant that serves traditional Christmas dishes, like goose or duck with red cabbage , some sauce (if I'm not mistaken). Any recommendations? Honestly if you want the real deal without the tourist markup, check out Gasthaus Krombach in Spandau. It's a bit of a hike but they do a classic Weihnachtsgans with Rotkohl and Klöße for around 22 euros, which is insane value for Berlin these days. The atmosphere is super old school German, lots of families there, and they don't rush you out after the meal. Just be aware they're cash only and you'll def need a reservation at least a week in advance for December.

Lutter & Wegner on Potsdamer Platz does a solid Weihnachtsgans throughout December, not just on the 24th and 25th. Their red cabbage is properly tangy and they serve it with potato dumplings and gravy. You're looking at around 25 to 30 euros per plate, which for Mitte is fair. Just call ahead to confirm they still have it on the menu, they sometimes switch things up after the first week of the month.

You could try Zur Haxe in Friedrichshain, they do a proper German goose with all the trimmings and it's not too fancy price-wise. Just make sure to book ahead, places like that fill up quick in December.

Best tattoo artist in town?

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
