After monitoring Airbnb for almost a month I realized this option is not going to work (no new listings). I'd rather avoid a classic hotel with reception as I would like to have flexibility and privacy (I will be having guests at different times of a day or night & I will be partying as well).

Is there any alternative to Airbnb where I can rent 1 bd apt / studio for 7-10 days?. If not, what Hotel would you recommend (reasonable price) close to the city center?

Wunderflats is your best bet for a legit short-term rental in Berlin, they specialize in furnished apartments for stays from a few days to months. The booking process is straightforward and you deal directly with the landlord, no middleman drama like Airbnb. Just keep in mind that most listings require you to pick up keys in person during business hours, so coordinate your arrival time accordingly.

If you want something even more flexible, look at Monteurzimmer websites like Berlinovo or Mr. Lodge. They usually cater to business travelers and have proper contracts for stays under two weeks. The prices are reasonable, think 60-80 euros a night for a studio in Friedrichshain or Neukolln, and nobody cares about your guest situation as long as you're not causing trouble.

For hotels that feel less like a hotel, check out the Michelberger in Friedrichshain or the Circus in Mitte. Both have apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes and no formal reception after hours, you get a code for the door. The Michelberger is right on Warschauer Strasse with great nightlife around, the Circus is quieter but steps from Rosenthaler Platz. Either way you'll pay around 100-120 a night for a private room with your own entrance.

the michelberger hotel is solid for what you want, they have these little rooms with private bathrooms and no front desk after 11pm, you just get a code for the main door. another option is the baxpax downtown hostel in mitte, they do private studios with kitchenettes and it's super central, like 5 mins from alexanderplatz. for the party vibe you're describing, friedrichshain or kreuzberg would be ideal neighborhoods, check spots around warschauer str or kottbusser tor, plenty of bars open til 6am and nobody bats an eye at guests coming and going

yeah check out wunderflats or housinganywhere, they usually have short term furnished spots. for a hotel vibe without the front desk thing, try the nhow or michelberger hotel, both are pretty chill and central

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
