Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a place to buy fresh and affordable chicken breast near Lichtenberg S-Bahn station. Preferably something reasonably priced but still good quality.

I'd appreciate any recommendations, be it supermarkets, butchers, or local markets nearby. Thanks in advance for your help!

honestly the Rewe at the station itself is fine for chicken breast, it's not the cheapest but the quality is consistent. if you want better prices walk 5 mins down to the Turkish market on Frankfurter Allee, they have a butcher section with fresh chicken for like 4-5 euro per kilo. the market's open tuesdays and fridays til 6pm, bit of a squeeze but worth it

yeah the weekly market at Lichtenberg S-Bahn on fridays has a poultry stand that's pretty good, chicken breast is usually around 5-6 euro a kilo and it's way fresher than supermarket stuff. just get there before noon or they sell out of the good cuts

if you head towards the Ring-Center on Frankfurter Allee there's a Metro inside, you'd need a membership but sometimes they do guest passes. otherwise the little butcher shop on Möllendorffstraße, just past the tram stop, has decent chicken for around 6 euro a kilo and it's always fresh

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
