Any chance the fireworks this year will be less horrible than previous years?
Edit:… Has anyone heard anything about any measures against fireworks this year in Berlin? If it's exactlly like last year(s) I need to book my trip now so that I stay away the worsts parts of it :D

Thanks everyone, just wanted to make sure I haven't missed any news etc. Booking my trip now. Have a good one and stay away from anyone who drinks and uses fireworks!
yeah it's the same every year unfortunately, no new bans or restrictions. if you want peace and quiet your best bet is actually heading out to the dorf areas around brandenburg, places like wandlitz or bernau are dead silent on silvester and you can get there by regional train from berlin
if you're really set on staying in the city, look for a place near a big forest like grunewald or the teufelsberg area. it's not dead silent but way quieter than anywhere with buildings. just make sure your windows are closed tight though
No new rules this year, it'll be the same chaos. If you really want to avoid it, book somewhere outside the Ring, like Pankow or further out in Spandau, not just a different neighbourhood in Mitte. The S-Bahn is basically a war zone on Silvester night, so plan to be wherever you're staying by early evening and don't expect to move until New Year's Day afternoon.
