Job seekers residence permit/visa - did I apply correctly?

So I'm really confused as to how to get an appointment for a job seeker's residence permit. I finished my master's degree yesterday, and I filled out the form on October 8th to get an appointment but haven't gotten any response. How does it work? I haven't even gotten any confirmation that the email was received or anything. It says it takes six weeks, but does that mean they'll answer in six weeks, or that from when they answer, I'll have to wait another six weeks to get my job-seeking residence permit? Did you get an appointment for the job-seeking visa?

I applied here... is this correct? https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/324661/standort/327437/en/

Also, I'm worried because I have my Anmeldung until December 31st. I'm not sure I will get my residence permit on time.

tbh the six weeks thing is just them processing your file internally, not waiting for an appointment slot on top of that. once they get back to you theyll usually give you a termin within a few weeks, sometimes faster if you're lucky

your anmeldung expiring in december isnt a huge deal for the job seeker permit itself, but you should keep it valid if you can. you can re-register at a new place and just update the auslanderbehorde later, they care more about your current address than the paper date

also i'd recommend calling the auslanderbehorde directly instead of waiting on the form. the phone line is a pain but sometimes you can get a termin over the phone if you explain you're in a time crunch. the burgeramt can't help with this one, it's strictly the immigration office

you could also try the email trick - send a direct message to the auslanderbehorde job seeker team at their specific address (it should be on the service.berlin page somewhere, like a kontakt form or email link). sometimes that bypasses the portal black hole entirely. i did that and got a reply in like two weeks

your anmeldung date is mostly for the burgeramt records, not the immigration office. just make sure your landlord gives you a new wohnungsgeberbestatigung if you move, and update your address with the auslanderbehorde as soon as you get a response from them

also fyi the job seeker permit is 6 months and you can work up to 20 hours a week, but only in your field. if you find a job before it expires you can switch to a work visa without leaving germany

the burgeramt thing with your anmeldung expiring is actually less of a problem than you think. the job seeker permit isn't tied to your anmeldung date, it's about your current living situation. just make sure you have a valid rental contract and can prove you're still in berlin if they ask.

one thing no one's mentioned yet is you can also try walking into the Lageso (the main auslanderbehorde building) without an appointment. go super early, like 6am, and queue up for the "emergency" or "walk-in" slot. it's a gamble but i've seen people get their permits same-day that way

also check your spam folder religiously, their emails sometimes land there and you'd never know. i know someone who missed their termin because of it

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
