I have no idea why anyone would do that but is it worth reporting it to the police? And would they even take it seriously?

I'm more concerned about it being an EG apartment where someone could easily jump into (with a bit of atleticisim) than the egg throw itself.

Thanks!

ngl the egg thing is annoying but the cops really won't care unless you have video or it keeps happening. they'll take a report online but that's it.

for the EG security thing though - check if your window has those old school rolladen with the metal tracks on the side. if it does, you can wedge a small piece of wood or a metal pin into the track so the rolladen can't be pushed up from outside. way cheaper than anything from obi and works instantly. just test it from the inside first so you dont get locked out.

honestly unless you saw who did it or have a camera, the police won't do much beyond taking a report. they'll file it as property damage but it's basically a low priority case. the real issue is your eg window security though, so i'd focus on that instead.

check the brand of your window frame, some of the older berlin buildings have specific fittings. you can get nachrüstbare kindersicherungen or simple wedge locks from obi or hellweg that don't need drilling and make it way harder to slide the window open from outside. costs like 5-10 euros per window.

I'd still file a report, even if it feels minor. It costs you nothing and creates a paper trail if this person escalates or if it happens to other people in your building. The police in Berlin are used to these kinds of annoyances and will take the report over the phone or online via the "Onlinewache." For your safety concern, I'd look into getting a simple bar for the window that slides into the frame - Bauhaus has them for under 20 euros and they're easy to install without drilling.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
