KFZ Zulassungstelle closed before closing time - where do I complain about this?

On Berlin.de it states that today (Tuesday) they work until 18. On the paper at the door it says that they work until 17:40 which is still over 1h from the time I was at the door. Security guy does 🤷 sign and just leaves off the entrance to not to encounter me. Multiple people come, check the door and leave in confusion.

I have called 115 to complain and the guy on the line told me that I can't go there without a Termin. I tell him that even if I have one, the door is closed. How people can get inside if they come after work? And he just told me "Ja ja, Wünschen Ihnen schönen Tag" and dropped the phone.

Where do I complain about this?

The 115 hotline is basically a call center with no authority, so that tracks. Your best bet is filing a formal Dienstaufsichtsbeschwerde against the security guy and whoever decided to close early. Each Bezirksamt has a form for that on their website, usually under "Service" or "Beschwerden". I'd also send a copy to the Bezirksstadtrat for Ordnungsangelegenheiten in that district, since Zulassungsstellen fall under their responsibility. You won't get a quick fix but they have to respond within a few weeks.

honestly the 115 people are useless for stuff like this, they just read off a script. if you want someone to actually care, go straight to the Bezirksamt that runs that Zulassungsstelle - look up the buergermeister's office or the ordnungsamt's Beschwerde email. those emails actually get read by a human who has to respond.

another thing that works surprisingly well is tagging the Berliner Zeitung or rbb on twitter with the exact location and time. they love these "bureaucracy fails" stories and sometimes the Bezirksamt responds within hours once it's public. the Tegel or Tempelhof Zulassungsstelle? that matters cause each Bezirk handles complaints differently.

Yeah that's super frustrating. You could try writing to the Bezirksamt that runs that specific Zulassungsstelle, they usually have a service email or a Beschwerdeformular on their website. Sometimes the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit in Berlin also handles complaints about Behörden not sticking to their stated hours, but that's more of a long shot.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
