This morning I was taking the m41 to change lines at pannierstr but the station is not served at the moment? Seems like a new development.

Also there are loads of barriers at that stretch of sonnenallee, clogging up the station. They seem to be the cause of the station not being served? Are they left from the marathon or are they left in place for riot protection for all the demos happening around there?

It's super annoying because I wasted another 10-15 minutes on my commute. I was only on the m41 in the first place because my regular bus was late yet again.

Pannierstr. is one of those stops that gets pulled whenever the Polizei runs a Gefährderansprache or a spontaneous Versammlung at Karl-Marx-Str., not just Hermannplatz. I've seen the m41 skip it on a Friday afternoon with zero Baustelle in sight, just two Grüne Minna parked at the corner. My rule now is to check the BVG Störungsmeldung before I even leave the house, and if Pannierstr. is flagged I just take the U8 to Hermannstr. and walk. Saves the guessing and the 15 minutes you just lost.

Sonnenallee has been a mess for weeks because of the Kranoldstr. and Pannierstr. junction roadworks, the BVG has been rerouting the m41 via Hermannstr. on and off since mid September. Those green barriers are actually from the Baustelle, not the Polizei, they fence off the trench they dug for the new water mains. Worth downloading the BVG Fahrinfo app if you haven't, it shows live Umleitung notes per line and saved me the same guessing game on the m41 last week.

The barriers on Sonnenallee near Pannierstr. are almost certainly not marathon leftovers. The Berlin Marathon was two weeks ago and they clear that stuff within a day or two. What you're seeing is the standard Absperrgitter setup the Polizei leaves around there for the weekend demos, they tend to stage near the Sonnenallee/Pannierstr. junction because it's a quick run to Hermannplatz if things kick off. That said, the m41 detour at Pannierstr. is a different thing, usually a BVG Baustelle or a police closure order that lasts a few hours, not the whole day. If it's still closed tomorrow, check the BVG Störungsmeldung in the app rather than guessing, they log the reason there.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
