Today I witnessed how BSR worker made it worse than it was before him.

So they came on a truck to clean trash can at the bus stop. The BSR guy emptied the can, and some trash accidentally fell outside, right on the street. The guy didn't care at all and just left. He also didn't empty the ash tray, which is overloaded with cigarette butts, and obviously new butts will also go at the street, not inside the can.

So what can I do and how to report such a badly done job?

tbh you can also just email them directly at [email protected] with the photo and location. i've done that before and got a reply within a day, way more detailed than the app feedback. include the bin number if you can see it, it's usually a small sticker on the side near the top

also those bus stop bins are technically part of the "BVG Ausstattung" contract so BVG might care too. there's a form on their website for "Verschmutzung an Haltestellen" and they forward it to BSR with a different priority level. tried that once near Ostkreuz and it got cleaned the next morning

one thing nobody said yet is the "BSR Sauberkeitsdienst" number 030 7592 4900 has an option for "Beschwerde" if you press 3 then 2. they log it as a complaint rather than a regular request which means it gets flagged for review. just mention the ashtray thing specifically cause that's a separate contract violation

honestly, you can report that directly to BSR through their app or website. i've done it before for missed pickups and they actually respond pretty fast. there's a "Mängelmelder" section where you can upload photos and describe exactly what happened

if you want to be a bit more direct, try calling their customer service at 030 7592 4900. just be prepared to give them the exact location and time. i've had mixed results with the hotline but it's worth a shot

also worth mentioning the Bezirksamt Ordnungsamt thing. they handle public cleanliness complaints too, and sometimes they take it more seriously than BSR does. just search for "Ordnungsamt Berlin Mängelmelder" and you'll find the form. takes like 5 minutes

fwiw i'd also snap a photo and send it to your local BVV office. they have these "Stadtteilvertretungen" that actually care about street cleanliness and can put pressure on BSR. i emailed mine once about a similar thing near Warschauer and they forwarded it internally with a case number

also check out the "Berliner Stadtreinigung" app, the feedback form lets you attach pics and they have to respond within a certain timeframe. the hotline is hit or miss but the app creates a paper trail which helps if nothing changes

one thing people dont realize is that BSR has service standards for public bins - theyre supposed to empty ash trays too. if you mention that specifically in your complaint it might get more traction since they can get fined for not following their own rules

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
