What's a habit or attitude you've picked up since living in Berlin?

Whenever I visit the UK, my friends say I've become rude. Some say I've become blunt and too direct. I don't notice it but I guess it's something I've picked up since living in Berlin.

What's yours?

tbh my biggest one is the "ich hab keinen bock" attitude. back in the uk i'd say yes to everything and fake enthusiasm but now i just say no if i don't wanna do something. my friends think i'm being antisocial but it's just more honest. also i've stopped apologising for everything. if i bump into someone on the u-bahn i just say "tut mir leid" once and move on instead of the british 5 minute apology spiral.

honestly I've started just staring at my phone on the u-bahn and not making eye contact with anyone. back home I'd smile at strangers but here that's just weird. also I've gotten used to people being grumpy at kiosks and now I'm the same way. my mum says I sound annoyed all the time but I'm just talking normally.

ngl the biggest one for me is just saying "hallo" when i walk into a small shop or bakery. back home nobody did that but here it feels weird not to. also i've gotten super impatient with checkout lines and people blocking the u-bahn doors. my friends back home say i've turned into a stereotypical berliner.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
