How do we start? I read that there are some eV with some kind of exchange deals where private instructors offer to teach you for free. You only pay for the plane rental and they get their hours. Anyone got some details on this?

Is it also possible to go directly to flight school as ausbildung right after highschool, with funding from the Agentur für Arbeit?

the flight schools in Strausberg are legit, but most of them focus on PPL rather than the full commercial path. if your kid wants to go all the way to airline pilot, theyll prob need to look at bigger operations like in Schonefeld or even the Lufthansa school in Bremen. Strausberg is more for hobby flying and building hours on the cheap.

about the Agentur fur Arbeit thing - its possible but they'll want proof that a regular uni or ausbildung isnt an option. most people i know who got it had to jump through hoops for months and it still only covered part of the cost. the private loan route is more common tbh, some banks have specific aviation financing programs.

the free instructor thing works in theory but its mostly a myth in practice. those eV clubs exist but the waiting lists are long and you gotta know someone. straight up paying for a PPL is the most realistic start, you can do it in about 6 months if you fly twice a week. start with a Schnupperflug at Flugplatz Strausberg, its about 150 euro for 30 minutes and will tell you if the kid actually wants to commit.

Yeah the Ausbildung route through Agentur fur Arbeit is possible but tricky. They usually only fund it if there's a Mangelberuf situation or if your kid can prove they can't get into anything else. Most people I know just did it private and took out loans, the state funding is rare for that kind of thing.

honestly, i'd skip the eV thing unless you've got time to burn. those deals are rare and usually go to people inside the club already. better to just call the schools in Strausberg directly and ask about a Schnupperflug. that way you see if the kid even likes

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
