yeah so imo the best kept secret is actually cookies cream in charlottenburg on friedrichstraße. it's this wild mix of fine dining and club vibes, they have a chef's table where you watch them cook and the menu changes every few weeks. the foie gras with cherries is insane. just know it gets loud later when the dj starts, so go early if you want the food to be the main event. around 200 euros for the full menu

also if you want something totally different from the typical michelin spots, try reinickendorf's einhorn on resi-weg. it's an old butcher shop turned into this super minimalist restaurant, only does dinner thursday to saturday. the chef sources everything from his own farm outside berlin, and the whole meal feels like you're at someone's house. no menu, just whatever he found that week. around 120 euros, and you'll prob need to book like a month in advance

honestly if you want the full experience go to Rutz in Mitte. it's got three michelin stars but doesnt feel stuffy, the wine pairings are next level and they do this thing with truffle that i still dream about. just a heads up tho, it's on charlottenstraße and you'll prob drop around 300 euros per person with wine

if you want something less formal but still incredible, try Ernst in the same area. it's more about the seasonal tasting menu and the service is super chill. they're on torstraße and i think they're easier to get into than Rutz

if you want something that feels like a real hidden gem, check out 893 Ryotei in Mitte. it's a tiny japanese place that does a kaiseki-style menu, but with a super intimate vibe and like only 10 seats. they're on torstraße too but tucked away in a courtyard, easy to miss. the chef comes out and explains each course himself, and the uni dish is unreal. around 150-180 euros without drinks, way more chill than the big michelin spots

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
