30th Birthday dinner for my girlfriend, restaurant recommendation?

Open-mind… Looking for a restaurant in Berlin that would make a romantic setting and, most importantly, excellent food for my girlfriend's 30th birthday. Max budget of say 100-150 euros per person. Open-minded about cuisine: she loves Japanese food, French food and everything in between. Thanks in advance!

for that budget and her taste, i'd actually throw out nobelhart & schmutzig in kreuzberg. it's a michelin star place but not stuffy at all, the entire concept is "only what grows within 100km of berlin" which sounds limiting but they pull off some wild stuff. the tasting menu is 130 euros and they do these tiny, intense courses like a single oyster with fermented elderflower or this incredible carrot dish that tastes nothing like a carrot. the room is tiny and the open kitchen means you can watch the team work, it's a proper experience without being pretentious

if she's into japanese-french fusion, kink in friedrichshain is slept on. it's run by a couple who do a small omakase style menu that mixes both traditions really naturally, think foie gras gyoza or a really clean dashi with local mushrooms. the full menu with wine pairing runs about 100 euros and the space has this warm, dark wood vibe with just a few tables. it's not as famous as the big names but the quality is up there and they remember regulars

honestly for a 30th with that budget i'd look at eins44 in friedrichshain. it's not flashy from the outside but the kitchen does this really precise modern german thing that's heavy on technique without being fussy. the tasting menu runs about 110 euros and they do an incredible job with game and seasonal veg, plus their wine pairings are well thought out for the price. if she likes japanese and french, that kind of cross-cultural precision cooking might hit both notes in one spot

another option if you want something more lowkey but still special is ora in kreuzberg. it's a tiny place with maybe 12 seats and the menu changes weekly based on what the chef finds at markthalle neun. you'll get things like grilled octopus with fermented chili and maybe a really good piece of fish with a dashi butter. it's around 70 euros for the full menu which leaves room for champagne to start and a nice bottle with dinner, and the whole vibe is candlelit and quiet. you'd need to book a couple weeks out though, they fill up fast

lucky you, 30th is a big one. for that budget and her taste, i'd book a table at bandol sur mer in mitte. it's french-ish with a killer natural wine list and the space feels like a tiny, candlelit secret. the prix fixe menu is around 85 euros and they do a great job with seafood, but the real move is telling them it's a birthday when you book, they've been known to do something special with the dessert course. if she's more into japanese, kochu in prenzlauer berg is a smaller, more intimate spot than the big name places, their omakase is around 120 euros and it's genuinely some of the best fish i've had outside of tokyo

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
