Do you think it's rude to take pictures of people with tattoos on their legs and arms?

I was wondering how people would react to it. So far after three days I haven't got a single issue and I haven't asked for permission mostly cause I would be either too far away or language barrier. I try to do it in less than 10 seconds to not cause uncomfort. I view tattoos as art and most of the the women have the best ones in Berlin, especially near alexanderplatz and zoologisher! 😎

honestly it's a bit of a grey area here. most berliners with visible ink are used to being looked at but snapping without asking can feel weird to some people, especially if they're just going about their day. the thing is we're pretty direct here, if someone had a problem they'd tell you, so the silence probably means they don't care or didn't notice. if you're near warschauer straße or on the u8 you'll see a lot of interesting tattoo work on people just commuting, but maybe try a quick "darf ich?" if you're close enough next time, it usually gets a nod

yeah you're fine most of the time but it's a bit of a gamble depending on the vibe. around alexanderplatz or zoologischer people are more used to tourists doing tourist things so they barely register it. but if you're in neukölln or around hermannplatz some folks might side-eye you for not asking, not because they're offended but because they'll think it's weird you didn't just say "hey nice ink"

i'd say just keep doing what you're doing if it works but if you're close enough a quick "cool tattoo" in english goes a long way. most berliners speak enough to get the gist and it makes the whole thing way less awkward for everyone

tbh most people here dont mind as long as you're not being a creep about it. berlin is pretty used to tourists with cameras and half the people with visible ink are artists themselves so they get it. but if you're lingering too long near someone on the u-bahn platform they might clock you, especially around kottbusser tor where people are more alert. a quick "nice tattoo" in english usually breaks the ice and makes it feel less like you're documenting them like a zoo animal

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
