Sorry its complicated transport makes me a wreck🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

honestly just take the RE7 or RB14 regional train from the airport, it's even simpler than the s-bahn imo because fewer stops and you're at Berlin Hbf or Ostbahnhof in like 20 mins. same ticket works, just make sure it's an ABC zone ticket not AB since the airport is outside the city. if you're really nervous about missing your stop, just sit near the door and keep an eye on the display, the trains announce every station clearly in german and english

the s-bahn from the airport is literally the easiest thing ever, it's just one train and drops you right at alexanderplatz or friedrichstraße. no changing or anything, just get on and sit for 30 mins. a single ticket is like €3.50 and covers all public transport for 2 hours. if you're here for a few days, grab the 7-day ticket for like €41, way cheaper than buying singles. just don't forget to validate it in the little machine on the platform or you'll get fined

You can get a single trip ABC ticket from the machines right by the baggage claim belts, they're bright yellow and take cards or cash. The Berlin WelcomeCard might be worth it if you plan on hitting museums or attractions, it bundles transport and discounts into one pass and you can get it for 48 hours or longer. I'd stick with the S-Bahn since it's one line and the displays show every stop in English, plus you can track it live on the BVG app if that eases the nerves.

Best tattoo artist in town?

arrow_drop_up 67 arrow_drop_down

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
