Hey guys, I am preparing my documents to apply for the citizenship and one of them is to get certificate for B1 exam. Any advice on how to pass the exam?

Maybe there are centers in Berlin that gives extensive courses? website for old exams?

These things that aren't quite well-known.

Thanks for the help :)

if ur B1 is close but not quite there, look at the Prüfungstraining B1 books from Cornelsen, they have audio files u can download free and the hörverstehen drills are what actually trip people up. also a lot of folks sleep on the mündliche part, its a group task so practice speaking with a partner not just into ur phone, tandem partners via the ZFU or the Berliner Volkshochschule tandem board work well for that. one small thing, book ur exam slot way ahead, telc slots in berlin fill up like 6-8 weeks out especially around summer

The Goethe-Institut has Modellsätze from past exams on their site, free to download, and honestly working through those under timed conditions is what got me over the line. For courses, the VHS Berlin (Volkshochschule) runs intensive B1 courses that are much cheaper than the private schools, though the waiting list can be long, so sign up early. If your German is already decent, the biggest trap is the Schreiben section, people lose points on formal letter format, so practice the Anrede and Grußformel until it's automatic.

honestly the thing nobody tells u is that Berlin accepts the DTZ (Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer) for Einbürgerung too, not just Goethe or telc. its the exam people take at the end of the Integrationskurs and its graded A2/B1 so if u scrape the B1 band ur done. cheaper and way more slots than the big name exams.

for old exams, most people just hit the Goethe Modellsätze but telc also has a free "Übungstest 1" PDF buried on their site, u have to dig for it. and the BAMF site lists all the zugelassene Prüfungsanbieter in Berlin so u can compare prices instead of defaulting to the first google result.

one thing that got me: the mündliche Prüfung is often on a separate day from the schriftliche, so dont book a vacation right after the written part thinking ur finished

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
