Hi :) So me and my boyfriend have a third anniversary in three months. They proposed a weekend in Berlin, and i proposed planning a weekend for us.

I would love to do something special. We like being active so fun activities like mini golf would be great. And also maybe some cute romantic restaurant. I saw that you can fly a ballon for a good price but i´m worried about the weather haha

I´m thankful for all of the propositions !!

since you're active, rent some city bikes and do the east side gallery stretch along the spree, it's like 1.3km of art and you can stop for a beer at yaam beach bar if it's warm. for a romantic dinner that's a bit different, try bandol sur mer in kreuzberg, it's a tiny french place with like 6 tables and the menu changes daily, you'll need to reserve early. and honestly balloon is fun even with some clouds, just check their website day-of for wind cancellations.

honestly for a third anniversary weekend i'd build it around a nice dinner and a fun activity that feels a bit more special than just mini golf. there's a place called monkey bar on the 10th floor of the 25hours hotel near zoo station, the view over the zoo is amazing at sunset and the cocktails are solid but not crazy expensive. for active stuff, have you considered a stand-up paddleboarding session on the landwehr canal? there's a rental spot near urbanhafen that does 2-hour slots for like 15 euros each, it's chill and you get a different view of the city. if you really want the balloon, book it for late afternoon on a saturday, even if it's a bit cloudy the sunset colors over the city make up for it and they refund if wind is too high. oh and for a cute romantic dinner without the hype, try katz orange in friedrichshain, it's a tiny italian place with homemade pasta and the owner is usually there chatting with guests, you'll need to reserve like a week ahead though

ngl the balloon thing is a gamble but tbh it's worth it if you get a clear day, just keep an eye on the forecast. for a more active date that's a bit different, try the climb at ostbahnhof, it's this indoor bouldering place with a cafe and a rooftop terrace, you can grab a beer after and watch the trains roll by. for dinner, i'd skip the hyped spots and go to cafe mora in neukölln, it's a cozy little spanish place with shared plates and the patatas bravas are legit, plus it's cheap enough that you can splurge on a bottle of wine from the späti next door. also, if you're up for a walk after, the tempelhofer feld runway is right there and it's super romantic at night with the city lights

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
