Hey,

I tried developing my film at DM for the first time, and the results were terrible. I had the second roll developed there, while the first one was done at a photographer's studio. Do you think Rossmann would be any better, or is their quality similar?"

The photographer's quality was amazing but the price was too high. Like €20 for slides and digital photos.

If you have any suggestions on Karl Marx Str would be great :)

yeah both rossmann and dm use the same noritsu machines so the quality is basically identical. the difference is just in how they scan it and which lab they send to at that point. if you want better results without the pro price, try fotoimpex on wriezener str, they do manual scanning and it's like €15 for dev + decent scans

on karl marx str the best bet is probably fotoautomaten on sonnenallee like someone said but also check out the shop near u-bhf neukölln - same machines but they let you pick your settings if you ask nicely

ngl both are basically the same machine just different color profiles dm tends to push contrast more tho if you want a middle ground maybe try the foto automatic on sonnenallee

bro they're all the same noritsu machines rossmann dm whatever it's just which teenage hire is pressing the buttons that day. if u want actual control go to fujilab near hermannplatz they scan on a frontier and let u pick your film preset but it's like €12

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
