So as the title says, I left a backpack on an S-Bahn in Berlin. I've already spoken to DB, and I'm filing a police report, but is there anything else I can do to maybe help the chances of finding it? I'm not quite sure, since I've only been here less than a year, and it had a lot of important documents in it. Again, I am not asking for it to be found, simply what I can do to try and help the chances of it being recovered. Thank you in advance.

honestly you've done the main things already with DB and the police. I'd also check the Fundbüro at the Hauptbahnhof directly, sometimes stuff gets dropped off there instead of going through the big lost and found system. the S-Bahn drivers usually hand things in at the end of their route at the terminus stations like Wannsee or Ahrensfelde, so calling those specific stations might be worth a shot if you know which line you were on. also toss a post in the Berlin Lost & Found groups on Facebook, people post there all the time and sometimes things get reunited that way

You could also try the S-Bahn's social media accounts, especially Twitter. Sometimes people post about found items there and it's worth a shot if you're active on it.

You've already done the basics. Try checking the Fundbüro at your local Bürgeramt in a few days, not just the central one at Hauptbahnhof. Things get forwarded there after a week or so, and people forget that. Also, put up a physical notice at the S-B

Best tattoo artist in town?

arrow_drop_up 67 arrow_drop_down

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
