I wrongly assumed the s-bahn runs all night but I guess it stops at 1:30 and restarts "around" 4? Things may get tight if I use that method. I'd like to get to the airport by around 4 am....what are my options? Calling a taxi company in advance to pick me up around 3 am in Kreuzberg? Or is there a 24/hour airport service shuttle of some kind? Otherwise I'll have to go to the airport at 1 AM and have a long wait I guess but that seems inefficient.

just book the taxi honestly, it's like 30 euros from kreuzberg and you won't have to stress about missing the n7 or walking through that parking garage with your luggage. i did the night bus once at 3am and it was fine but the taxi lets you sleep an extra 20 minutes which is worth it for a 6am flight

The N7 night bus runs every 30 minutes from Mehringdamm and goes straight to the airport, takes about 35 minutes. It drops you at the S-Bahn station side but there's a covered walkway through the parking garage to Terminal 1, takes maybe 5 minutes. I've done that route at 3am with a suitcase and it's totally fine. If you're in eastern Kreuzberg near Kottbusser Tor, the N1 bus connects at Hermannplatz to the N7 as well. The taxi is easier but the bus is 4 euro and honestly just as reliable at that hour.

You can also take the X7 bus from Rudow, which runs all night and goes directly to BER. From Kreuzberg you'd take the N7 night bus to Rudow and transfer, it's about the same price as the direct N7 but sometimes more reliable if the N7 is running late. The X7 drops you right at Terminal 1 instead of the S-Bahn side, so you skip that walk through the parking garage. I've done this a few times and it's never taken more than 50 minutes total from Mehringdamm.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
