Best place for Aussies to watch Olympic football?

I happen to be in Berlin for a few days and want to know where is the best place for Aussies to watch the Matildas take on Germany in the Olympics in Berlin? If you want a proper crowd for the Matildas, I'd skip the tourist spots and head to Belushi's near Alexanderplatz. It's the go-to for any big match with an English-speaking crowd, and they'll have sound on for the football. The pints are a bit pricier than your average Kneipe, but the atmosphere makes up for it.

If you're after something more laid-back, try the Prater Garten in Prenzlauer Berg. It's a classic beer garden, so you'll be outdoors with a decent view of the game on their screens. It gets busy, so get there early if you want a seat near the action. Either way, you'll find plenty of Aussies around, just don't expect any Vegemite on the menu.

yeah the fan mile is solid but if you're after a proper aussie huddle, check out the biergarten at monbijoupark instead. it's close to hackescher markt but way less touristy than belushi's, and the crowd there is mostly locals who love the matildas. they've got a big screen near the back and the sausages are legit, just don't ask for a parma.

also worth knowing: the u-bahn from alexanderplatz to brandenburg gate is a mess during big games, so if you're staying south, grab a tram to friedrichstrasse and walk over. and bring cash, a lot of the smaller kneipes won't take card for a round of beers.

the real move is to find a fan zone, not a bar. berlin sets up public viewing spots at the fan mile near brandenburg gate for the olympics, and for a germany vs australia game that place will be absolutely buzzing. it's free, massive screens, and you'll get a mix of both sets of fans which is way more fun than a pub. just bring a jacket, it gets cold even in summer once the sun drops.

if u want something more indoor, the lindencorso cinema near unter den linden sometimes does live sports screenings too, but that's more hit or miss. the fan mile is the safest bet, just expect big crowds and slow drink lines, but that's part of the experience. also u can bring ur own beer in a plastic cup, which saves u from the 6 euro pints at the bars.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
