Hi all, where can I buy ibuprofen that isn't an apotheke, or does anyone know a pharmacy open until late today? I'm in Kreuzberg .

Additionally in the case my pains get worse can I just go to a hospital for some medicine? It can get unbearable :(

Danke

Check the Apotheken Notdienst app first, it updates at 8am and 8pm daily, and the nearest on-call spot changes every day. Mehringplatz is often the Kreuzberg go-to, but on some evenings the duty pharmacy ends up in Neukölln or even Tempelhof, which is a miserable walk when you're hurting.

If you want to skip the apotheke markup entirely, the Rewe at Kottbusser Damm has a small painkiller shelf near the checkout, but it's usually just the 200mg tablets and they sell out fast. Honestly, for the 400s, dm on Bergmannstrasse is more reliable, and you can grab a hot water bottle there too, which helps more than you'd think for muscle cramps.

One thing nobody's said: if you have health insurance here, some Hausärzte have evening Sprechstunden, but you'd need to call ahead and they're mostly in Friedrichshain or Mitte, not Kreuzberg. For the hospital, skip it unless you're genuinely worried about something beyond pain, the waiting room at Charité B Franklin will test your patience more than the pain will.

the emergency pharmacy at mehringplatz is ur best bet rn but heads up, they charge a bit extra after hours, like 2.50 or something. if u just need a quick fix, dm drogerie markt sells ibu up to 400mg, there's one on bergmannstrasse, open till 8 or 9 usually. for stronger stuff u'd need the apotheke tho.

hospital is technically fine but honestly they'll triage u last for pain, u could sit there for 4 hours easy. if it's like kidney stone level bad, sure, go to charité, but for normal aches just stock up at dm and maybe grab a heat pad from rossmann nearby. also check the notdienst website before u walk, sometimes the on-call spot changes daily.

dm on bergmannstrasse is solid for the 400s, but heads up they close at 8 tonight i think. if u're closer to kottbusser damm, the rossmann there is open till 9 and sells the same brand but sometimes cheaper. honestly for anything above 400mg u gotta bite the bullet at the apotheke, but the mehringplatz one is a 10 min walk from u.

for the hospital thing, don't bother unless ur vomiting or can't move. they'll just tell u to take ibu and send u home, plus the notdienst pharmacy is way faster. one thing nobody mentioned: if it's period pain or muscle stuff, grab a thermopad at dm too, that + the 400s usually does more than the 600s alone tbh. also check the apotheken notdienst app before u go, sometimes the on-call spot is closer than mehringplatz on certain days.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
