What are some good spots to drive an RC boat in Berlin?

I tried around Maybachufer and the canal there, but the waters are too murky and filled with things floating around... I tried around Maybachufer and the canal there, but the waters are too murky and filled with things floating around...

fwiw the Tiergarten has a few spots that work well, especially the Neuer See near the cafe. the water's decently clear and there's less current than the canals, plus you can grab a beer while you're there. just avoid weekends when it gets packed with families renting paddle boats, they kinda crowd the whole area

honestly try the little pond in Volkspark Friedrichshain, the one near the Märchenbrunnen. water's pretty clear and there's not much debris, plus you can sit on the grass while the boat does its thing. just watch out for the dogs that sometimes jump in after ducks

if you want something bigger, the Lietzensee in Charlottenburg has a dedicated model boat area near the west side. it's calmer than the canals and you won't get snagged on random trash. costs nothing to be there

i'd check out the Schlachtensee, the southern part near the bootshaus is pretty open and the water's not as gross as the canals. just go early on weekdays before the paddleboarders show up

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
