Termination of employment contract and official process in Berlin for Non EU?

I am currently unemployed and have applied for unemployment benefit. I also have a 4-year work visa, but should I definitely inform the immigration office that I have lost my job?

What are the consequences if I do not report it or can they understand it (e.g. when I find a new job, etc.)?

If I report it, what is the process? (Is my 4-year residence fixed, am I given a 6-month job search visa, what happens if you can't find a job in these 6 months, etc.)

If anyone has such experience, I would be grateful if you can help.

You should definitely inform the Ausländerbehörde. If you don't and they find out later it could cause problems with future applications or even a permanent residency down the line. Better to be upfront.

Once you report it, your 4-year visa won't just disappear. They'll usually issue a Fiktionsbescheinigung or change your status to a job search permit for up to 6 months. If you don't find a job in that time, you'd need to leave unless you qualify for something else like a language course or have a strong reason to stay.

Make an appointment at the LEA in Keplerstraße or go to the walk-in Sprechstunde if you can get there early. Bring your termination letter, your passport, and the unemployment benefit confirmation. Also check if your health insurance is still running through Arbeitslosengeld I, that's a common thing people forget.

honestly the other advice is solid but one thing people miss - if you have a 4 year visa already the clock keeps ticking while you're unemployed. so if you find a job in 3 months you still only have the remaining time on that visa, they don't pause it. also your anmeldung at the burgeramt stays valid even if you lose the job, just keep your address updated or they'll think you left the country

If you have a EU Blue Card or specific skilled worker visa, losing the job triggers a 3-month grace period not 6 months. Double check which card you have.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
