Begging mother sending her 4 year old child to collect and beg money at Hallesches Tor. Any thing I can do?

Then she would collect it and give back to her mom. The child was the same hight of my hand she was just tall enough to walk. This was insane. A German woman was also looking at the whole incident and we communicated that this is absolutely crazy, while everyone else were just walking pass it carelessly. Is there anything I can do against this? Can I call the police as this is Child Labour ?

if you see it again and want to do something concrete, the Ordnungsamt Kreuzberg has a mobile team that handles exactly this kind of thing around Kottbusser Tor and Hallesches Tor. their number is 030 90298 2999, and they can come out same day if you describe the spot clearly. tbh the police route often just ends in a report that goes nowhere, whereas the Ordnungsamt team actually knows the regular faces and can loop in the Jugendamt directly.

one thing people miss, the child is almost certainly in Kita age range, so if she's out there during Kita hours that's a separate red flag the Jugendamt cares about a lot. worth mentioning when you call.

jugendamt is the right call but the timing matters more than people think. they triage hard on whether it's during kita hours (roughly 7:30 to 16:00) & whether the kid looks like she's missing kit. a 4yo out begging at 11am on a tuesday reads very different to the same thing at 19:00 when the office is closed anyway. so if u see it mid-morning that's when u call 030 90298 55555 and say the words "kindeswohlgefährdung" and "kitaalter" out loud, those two get it flagged fast.

also worth knowing hallesches tor has a bvg social team that does rounds, they're not jugendamt but they log who's regularly at which entrance and pass it on. if u ride the u6 often just clock whether it's the same woman each time, that pattern is the thing that actually triggers a hausbesuch rather than a note in a file.

the kinderwagen trick is what i'd flag. if she's parked there with a stroller or bags to look like she's waiting, that's staging, and the ordnungsamt has seen it before at hallesches tor. same woman rotates between there, mehringdamm & kottbusser tor depending on the day. a quick photo of the setup from across the street, wide shot not the kid's face, is more useful than a close-up tbh, because it shows the whole arrangement to whoever reviews it

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
