Good coffee house in Moabit for reading a book?

. .

If you want to stay closer to the S-Bahn ring, check out Westphal on Oldenburger Straße. It's a proper roastery, so the espresso is the real deal, and the front window seats are prime people-watching with a book. It gets a bit loud at peak times, but mid-afternoon on a weekday it's calm.

For something with more of a neighborhood feel, try KaffeeRösterei on Kaiserin-Augusta-Allee. It's a bit further out but the owners are lovely and they don't rush you, plus they have a small shelf of German paperbacks if you want to switch things up. The filter coffee is cheap and they refill it without asking.

honestly the best spot for reading in Moabit is Cafe Strauss on Turmstraße, right near the S-Bahn. big windows, decent light, and the back room is usually quiet enough that nobody bothers u. they do a solid flat white, and the cheesecake is worth a detour.

if that's too busy, try Kaffee Kuche a few blocks toward Beusselstraße. it's smaller, kinda grungy in a good way, and the couches are perfect for sinking into a book for hours. just avoid weekends, it gets packed with laptop folks.

The river side of Moabit is underrated for this, honestly. Grab a coffee at Strandbad Mitte, it's by the water so the light's great and you can sit outside when the weather holds. Not a dedicated bookshop vibe, but nobody will mind if you camp there an afternoon.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
