Dear People from Berlin,

I just saw that there will be a food street festival at RAW-Gelände this weekend. I have a dog and would like to come with him since it will be hot, and my apartment can be very warm during summer.

Does anyone know if dogs are allowed there?

The festival itself is dog friendly, but be ready for the noise if your dog isn't used to crowds. The music and the sizzling grills can get loud near the main walkway, so maybe stick to the quieter corners closer to the river side. Also, there's a decent shaded path along the Spree just behind the old buildings if he needs a calm spot to lie down. He'll be fine, just don't expect to sit at the picnic tables with him, most of those are packed in by the food stalls.

honestly the bigger issue is the heat on that concrete, not the dogs. i've been there on hot days and the ground gets brutal by like 2pm, so bring a foldable water bowl and stick to the grassy patches near the old railway sleepers. also, the festival crowds are dense but the side alleys behind the big halls are way emptier, perfect for a quick pee break. if he's small, you might want a carrier for the middle section, i've seen people do that and it looks way easier than dodging stroller wheels.

RAW-Gelände is basically a big open-air space, so dogs are usually fine as long as they're on a leash. The festival stalls are mostly in the middle, but you can walk around the edges near the old train tracks and find shade under the trees. Just bring water for him, the concrete gets really hot by midday, and there's a small dog run a bit further south on Revaler Straße if he needs a proper break from the crowd.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
