People who know about Valencia or Berlin - which city would you move to?

I am aware that financially Berlin would be the better option but my life goals are fairly frugal considering I don't want to have children or buy a house - I would preferably like to live alone eventually however or with a future partner.

English proficiency of locals does not matter to me as I would learn either Spanish or German - languages I already have familiarity with.

This is of course fairly subjective but those who have had experience with either of these cities, which would you pick?

I'd pick Valencia for the lifestyle you're describing. Berlin is great for going out and finding your weird niche, but after a few years the winter darkness and bureaucratic slog at the Burgeramt gets old fast. Valencia is easier day to day, you can actually afford a nice apartment closer to the center, and the quality of life from having sun and the beach year round is hard to beat. The job market is worse than Berlin for English speakers, but if you're already planning frugal humanities life, you'll stretch your money further on the social life you actually want.

Berlin is amazing for the sheer variety of stuff happening all the time, but the city can be pretty rough and grey half the year. If you're fine with cold winters and a messy, gritty energy, go for it, but if you actually want sunshine and to swim in the sea, Valencia wins easily.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
