English speaking tax/financial advisor?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to explore my financial and tax options related to leaving my current employment. Do you know of any professionals I could consult about my situation? Please let me know.… Hi everyone, I'm looking to explore my financial and tax options related to leaving my current employment. Do you know of any professionals I could consult about my situation? I'd recommend reaching out to Alex at Steuerberatung Kreuzberg near Kottbusser Tor. He specializes in expat tax situations and knows the ins and outs of how the Finanzamt handles the transition between being an employee and whatever comes next. His initial consult is about 220 euros and he'll walk you through things like your Lohnsteuerbescheinigung and what happens with your Steuerklasse after you quit. Just make sure you bring your last few Gehaltsabrechnungen and any documents about potential Abfindung.

If you're leaving your job, make sure you understand how your Krankenversicherung will be affected, since that's often the biggest surprise. I've worked with Steuerberaterin Claudia Weber near Savignyplatz, she speaks fluent English and charges around 250 euros for an initial consultation. She's good at explaining the tax implications of Abfindung if you're getting severance.

You might want to check out Thomas Fischer at Fischer & Partner near U-Bahn Bayerischer Platz. He does English-language financial planning and tax advisory for expats, especially around employment changes. He helped me figure out the Kapitalertragsteuer on some stock options I had, and his rate was around 200 euros for the first session. Just be aware that if you have a severance package, the tax treatment can get tricky with the Fünftelregelung, so it's worth having someone who knows the details.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
