(Car rental, public transport etc)

honestly the train thing works but dont sleep on the flixbus option either, they run direct from berlin zob to gräfenhainichen during festival weekends, drops u basically at the gate. takes about 2 hours, costs like 15 euros one way if u book early. check their app friday night tho cause they sell out fast.

if u do go the train route, the shuttle from wittenberg is the weak link, it can take forever in the queue after the festival ends. i'd grab a beer and wait it out rather than rushing, last trains are later than people think on saturdays, like midnight from wittenberg. also the festival grounds are basically a dust bowl in summer, bring a bandana or something, my phone got wrecked by sand last time i went.

Train's honestly your best bet, no need to rent a car for this one. From Berlin Hauptbahnhof you can take the RE3 or RE5 regional train toward Lutherstadt Wittenberg, then transfer to the S-Bahn or a shuttle bus that runs to the festival site in Gräfenhainichen. Total trip is around 1.5 to 2 hours each way, and the last trains back to Berlin usually leave Wittenberg around 10 or 11 PM, so check the Deutsche Bahn app before you head out to catch the last connection.

If you do drive, it's about 120 km down the A9, takes roughly 1.5 hours without traffic, but parking at the festival can be a hassle and expensive, plus you'll be stuck sober for the drive back. Public transport lets you enjoy the day properly, and the regional train ticket with the VBB or DB app will cost you around 25 to 30 euros round trip, way cheaper than rental plus fuel. Just make sure to buy your Splash ticket in advance if you haven't already, it's a big electronic music festival so Saturday will be packed.

One thing I'd add, the Splash site itself has a dedicated shuttle from Bitterfeld station too, not just Wittenberg. It's a slightly smaller station but the queue is usually way shorter since most people don't know about it. RE7 from Berlin gets you there in about an hour and a half, then it's a quick bus hop to the festival.

Also, don't bother with a locker at the festival, they sell out instantly and the ones left are overpriced. Just travel light and keep your stuff in a small backpack you don't mind getting dusty. And

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
