Allergy peaking at the moment?

Is anyone else experiencing intense allergic reactions atm? I was fine in spring and thought „yay I'm cured" but currently it's a desaster. I was fine in spring and thought „yay I'm cured" but currently it's a desaster. I wake up 2 times every night sneezing and unable to breathe through my nose. Could it be some trees / pollen that are late for the party?

ngl i had the same thing last year and it turned out to be the mugwort blooming near the mauerpark flea market area. it's super common in berlin's vacant lots and along the sbahn tracks. if cetirizine makes you drowsy try levocetirizine from the apotheke, it's a bit pricier but doesn't knock you out

it's not just you, i've been a mess too. the birch and grass pollen were bad in spring but this late summer stuff is worse for me honestly. if you can, check the pollen count on the berlin wetterdienst site, they update daily and it helps to know when to avoid the parks. also, some people swear by the local propolis sprays from the reformhaus, might be worth a shot before you go full medication

yeah it's ragweed season now, hits way later than the spring stuff. I had the same thing last year, thought I was fine then August came and I was dying. If you're near any of the parks with Ambrosia, like Tempelhofer Feld or even some patches along the Spree, that's prob it. Try a local pharmacy for some cetirizine, it's cheap and works better than the stuff you can get at Rewe.

Best tattoo artist in town?

arrow_drop_up 67 arrow_drop_down

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
