Hi all, does anyone have any information on what might be going on? Did I miss something?

The booking page for Ausländerbehörden Termin is completely down and has been all yesterday and now today.

Not down as in you cant book an appointment, down as in the page straight up cant be reached. I tried three different computers and even a VPN to see if it was just me, but no luck.

I also cant find any information online if this is due to maintenance or when it should be back up again. What is going on?!

berlin.de had a major service outage yesterday affecting a bunch of their subdomains, not just the ausländerbehörde page. i checked the berlin it-status site and they logged it around 10am but no ETA was given. if you're near the leopoldplatz office, sometimes the security guys at the door will let you in for urgent cases even without an appointment, just be prepared to wait a couple hours

yeah it's been like that for everyone, no official word yet. maybe try calling the hotline or just showing up early in person if you're desperate, that's what some people do

honestly happens sometimes with their system, prob just overloaded or some backend crash. check the berlin de service portal directly instead, that's usually more stable for booking

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
