Freenet funk or Sim.de?

Need a sim card. Mostly just to receive calls but also I'd like something with a decent data connection. Both seem to offer good packages.

I've been on Sim.de for about a year now and it's been solid for what you're describing. The data is on Telefonica's network which is fine in most of Berlin, though you'll notice it slow down a bit in packed U-Bahn stations like Alexanderplatz. For just receiving calls and occasional browsing you won't have issues, and their app makes it easy to top up data if you ever need more in a pinch. Freenet Funk's daily billing model could work if you want more flexibility, but I prefer the predictability of Sim.de's monthly plans.

freenet funk is fine if you're disciplined about pausing it but honestly most people i know who tried it ended up paying for days they didnt use. sim.de is more set and forget which matters more in berlin where you might be on u-bahn wifi half the time anyway. one thing nobody mentioned yet is that sim.de runs on the same network as congstar and 1&1 so check if those work at your specific spot, some altbau apartments in prenzlauer berg have dead zones

honestly id go with freenet funk if u just need it for calls and light data. the daily billing is actually great for berlin where u might only use it a couple days a week. i had sim.de for a bit but their customer service is a pain if anything goes wrong, had to wait 20 mins on hold once just to fix a roaming issue. funk's app is dead simple and u can pause it whenever, which is handy if ur hopping between wifi at home and cafes around kreuzberg. just dont forget to cancel the daily thing if u dont need it, that's on u

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
