Where can I learn German for free in Berlin?
if you're near kreuzberg, check out the refugio at alexanderstraße - they run free language cafes a few times a week, not formal classes but great for speaking practice with locals. also the zentrum für kunst und urbanistik in wedding has a free german workshop on thursdays, it's more artsy but you pick up a lot of vocab. for something structured, the berliner stadtmission offers cheap courses for like 2€ per session if you're on a tight budget
honestly just check out your uni's sprachenzentrum, most of them offer free or super cheap courses for enrolled students and they're usually in person. there's also the neukölln opera library that does a free "deutsch am dienstag" conversation meetup every week, it's chill and you just show up. if you're near wedding, the stadtbibliothek there has a tandem program where you get matched with a native speaker for free

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
