I've been rejected from a few cafes who (understandably) don't want people taking up space for hours on their laptops. But I also can't work in my apartment there are too many distractions. Any good recommendations?

the zlb at breite strasse is solid but the real move is the lesesaal at staatsbibliothek zu berlin on potsdamer str. quiet as a grave, big wooden desks, and theres a little cafeteria downstairs when u need a break. u do need a library card for the reading rooms but its like 10 euro a year and u can register same day. only catch is no talking so its useless if u have calls

St. Oberholz at Rosenthaler Platz is the classic laptop cafe, they actually have power strips and dont rush you. Gets loud after 3pm tho. I prefer the reading room at Grimm Zentrum (HU library) on Geschwister-Scholl-Str, you need a day pass for like 5 euro if youre not a student but its dead quiet and the desks are massive. Also try Café Mugrabi near Landwehrkanal, smaller but the staff never cared when i camped out for 3 hours on a tuesday.

if u want something thats not a cafe or library, try the berlin welcome centre at rathaus tiergarten, sounds weird but the upper floor has free tables and wifi & nobody cares if u stay. another one is the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek's cafe side vs the silent side, pick the cafe side if u need to take calls. for a proper cafe that tolerates laptops i've had luck at café kuchenzeit near s+u gesundbrunnen, quieter than oberholz & the kuchen is decent, just buy a coffee every 90 min or so and they leave u alone

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
