What is happening?

summer is always construction season unfortunately. they plan the big track replacements during the school break when fewer people commute. check the s bahn website for the "sperrungen" page, it lists all closures by line and date. if ur on the ring, try switching to the m10 or m13 tram for a few stops, they cut through some of the mess near gesundbrunnen

honestly the s bahn has been a mess since they started that big construction project at ostkreuz. they're rebuilding half the station and it's messing up the whole ring schedule. if u can take the u bahn for part of your route it might save u some time, like u8 runs parallel to the ring for a few stops. also check vvs for the "ersatzverkehr" buses, they're annoying but at least they show up

yeah it's been brutal lately, especially on the ring. they're doing a bunch of track work near südkreuz and hermannstraße at the same time, plus they've been short on drivers for months. if you can, check the s-bahn app for the "bauarbeiten" schedule, it's actually pretty accurate for showing which lines are affected that day. the 5-minute takt is basically a myth until at least october

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
