Hi, does anyone know if/where I can find a Domke camerabag in Berlin? I don't care if it is used or new, I would just like to see the bag either way.

If there aren't any stores selling these bags, is there perhaps someone in this subreddit who owns a Domke F2 (or F6/F3X) who might be comfortable with quickly meeting up sometime next week to show me their bag? If this is too weird then I'd love to just get pictures of it

I am 17 and a full-time student so ordering a €190 bag without ever touching or inspecting it in real life feels risky. I have been looking for a Domke F2 for a full year now (I first saw one exhibited at the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin), but I am from Sweden and there are sadly no retailers here. Sorry if this is a weird question, I am just really interested in buying this camerabag.

My German is good enough to survive a couple of days in Germany but not good enough for a long post like this, sorry πŸ™ Have a good day

honestly i think Foto Kotti is your best bet, they sometimes have old stock Domke bags sitting around. the one on Potsdamer Str is easier to get to than the main shop, just ring them first. otherwise check Kleiderkreisel or ebay Kleinanzeigen, i see Domke F2s pop up there for like 80-120 euros pretty often

you could also try the flea market at Mauerpark on sunday, there's a guy who sells vintage camera gear near the food stalls. saw a Domke F3X there two months ago, 50 euros. no guarantee but worth a look if you're around

and ngl, the F2 is heavy when empty. like 800g before you put anything in it. the F6 is way lighter if that matters to you

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
