But I moved to Charlottenburg, and even though it's nicer here, the supermarkets are all so tiny and expensive, like Rewe or Edeka. The Kaufland I know here doesn't even have milk, like what the f*ck.

honestly the real move is hitting the Aldi on Kantstrasse near the zoo station, it's one of the bigger ones in the area and they actually stock full-size stuff unlike that weird Kaufland. also check out the Asian shops around Savignyplatz for cheap rice and noodles, the one on Kantstr has a tiny produce section that's weirdly affordable for the area

You should check out the Turkish supermarkets, especially Eurogida on Krumme Straße. They've got fresh produce and bulk staples like rice and beans for half what you'd pay at Rewe, and the spices are dirt cheap. The selection is different from a standard German supermarket, but if you cook at all, it's worth the trip. There's also a smaller one on Goethestrasse that's good for a quick shop.

Yeah, the Charlottenburg Kaufland at Wilmersdorfer Str. is basically a glorified convenience store, it's frustrating. For proper cheap groceries, head to the Netto on Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße or the Aldi near Adenauerplatz, they're a bit more no-frills but the prices are way better than Rewe. Also, if you can walk a bit further, the Lidl on Joachimsthaler Straße has a decent selection and is consistently cheaper than most of the other options around here.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
