I got some furniture delivered and the delivery person was complaining that I didn't reserve a spot. He was talking about a potential fine and stuff like that. Could you please let me know if thats a thing for a van? The building had space in front tho, for normal parking. Thank you!

the driver was probably trying to hustle u tbh. for a normal van delivering furniture u just need a spot where u can unload, usually the white zones are fine if ur not blocking anything. the real thing is the "Ladezone" spots, those are for trucks with a special permit, but a sprinter van doesnt need that unless its over 7.5 tons which it isnt. if he parked in a paid zone without a ticket thats on him, not u. tell the company next time they should send someone who knows berlin parking rules lol

Honestly, that sounds like the driver was just trying to shift the blame onto you. A standard delivery van is usually fine in a normal parking bay, especially if it's just for loading and unloading. The catch in Berlin is the "Lieferverkehr" rules, some spots are reserved for vehicles with a specific permit or only during certain hours, but if it was just a regular white zone in front of the building, you're probably clear. If he got a fine, it's on him, not you, since he's the one who parked and he should know the local loading rules better than you do. Next time, maybe ask the company upfront if they need a reserved spot, but for a one-off furniture drop, I wouldn't stress about it.

If the driver parked in a regular white zone in front of the building, there's no separate reservation system for a standard delivery van. The only thing that matters is whether it's a paid parking area and if he fed the meter or had a permit. Berlin does have "Ladezonen" that are strictly for loading with a special sign, but those are marked and you'd know if you were in one. For furniture delivery, most companies just double-park or use the sidewalk briefly if it's tight, they don't expect the customer to book anything. Sounds like he wanted you to cover a ticket he got for parking in a spot he shouldn't have, which is not your problem.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
