I'll be travelling to Berlin (and Munich) very soon and would like to buy some music gear while there. More specifically, I'd like to purchase an OP-Z by teenage engeneering, but also would be very interested in other grooveboxes!

Where should I look for it? Googled my butt out and couldn't figure it out. I'll also be briefly visiting Munich, if you have any recommendations.

Danke!

honestly if you're in berlin and want to try before you buy, schneidersladen is the move, but also check out red light records near hermannplatz. they sometimes have weird used gear and older teenage engineering stuff that shops like justmusic wont bother with. for munich, i'd say musik produktiv is better than session for actually testing stuff out, their showroom on landshuter allee has a few grooveboxes set up. just call ahead to make sure they have the op-z in stock, teenage engineering stuff moves fast here

Schneidersladen is the right call for the OP-Z, they've been carrying Teenage Engineering since before it was trendy. If you're taking the U-Bahn, get off at Mehringdamm and it's a short walk past the Vattenfall building. For something more offbeat, check out Music Center at Friedrichstraße, they sometimes have used gear in the back that doesn't make it online. In Munich, skip Session Music and go to Musik Produktiv in the city center instead, their showroom is bigger and they let you actually play with the grooveboxes before buying.

yeah justmusic is solid but if you want a bigger selection head to schneidersladen in kreuzberg, they're a proper modular/synth shop and usually have teenage engineering stuff in stock. for munich, music petz on landwehrstraße is worth a visit, they carry grooveboxes too

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
