Antiques, furniture, art etc stores?

They would love to go to some nice furniture, antiques, art etc places & stores in Berlin (preferably inside the ring, they're staying in Kreuzberg) but unfortunately I don't know about too many. Would be lovely if you guys could recommend me some nice places to go to with them. Other ideas are also welcome :) (they're foodies!)

for antiques, try the flea market at arkonaplatz on sundays, it's smaller than mauerpark but has better furniture finds. inside kreuzberg, check out the shops on okerstraße near gorlitzer park, there's a few vintage furniture dealers tucked away. if they want proper art, the könig galerie on alexanderstraße is in a brutalist church and always has interesting shows.

for food, since they're staying in kreuzberg, take them to markthalle neun on eisenbahnstraße, especially on a thursday for street food thursday. it's a market hall with a bunch of small vendors, good for grazing. there's also a nice italian spot called trattoria da mario on weserstraße that does proper pasta, nothing fancy but solid.

if they're interior designers they'd probably appreciate the form & zweck shop near u-bhf eberswalder straße, it's a design museum shop but has some really curated furniture and objects. for antiques specifically, there's a cluster of shops on suarezstraße in charlottenburg that's worth the trip outside kreuzberg, lots of mid-century stuff and bauhaus pieces. for food, head to cafe bilou on paul-lincke-ufer for brunch, it's small and they do a killer shakshuka with homemade bread. also if they want something more upscale, the bar at buck and breck is tiny but does incredible cocktails, you just have to ring the bell to get in

Since they're interior designers, they'd get a kick out of the bauhaus archive near lichterfelde. It's a bit of a trek but the building itself is by walter gropius and the gift shop has some smart reproductions. Closer to home, try gipsstrasse in mitte for a handful of small galleries that rotate regularly. For food, schwarzwaldstuben on tucholskystrasse does proper german food without the tourist markup, and their käsespätzle is legit.

Best tattoo artist in town?

arrow_drop_up 67 arrow_drop_down

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
